What Are The Best Ways To Reduce Your Pores?

If you look at your skin up close, you might be able to see large pores. This is especially true if the pores are open, which allows dirt and oil to get trapped inside. Luckily, there are things that you can do about it.

Exfoliate Your Face Regularly

One of the reasons your large pores become a problem is because they are susceptible to dead skin cells getting lodged inside. The best way to get rid of excess dead skin cells is by exfoliating on a regular basis.

Make sure when you choose an exfoliant, you select one for your skin type. If you get one for normal skin but you have especially sensitive skin, it could make your skin condition worse. Read the label carefully and choose a gentle exfoliant that cleanses the skin cells, but also softens your skin. If you believe your skin is too sensitive for any exfoliating product, use your regular cleanser with a washcloth as the texture helps exfoliate as well.

Wash Your Face Twice Daily

Speaking of washing your face, this also needs to be done regularly. Make sure you wash your face at least once a day, but preferably twice a day. This will remove dirt and makeup that would otherwise clog your large pores.

When they get clogged, the matter gets worsened. By keeping your skin and pores as clean as possible, you increase the chances of reducing their size. When they are kept clean of dead skin cells and dirt, they will gradually close on their own. In addition to using a good cleanser, choose one that contains salicylic acid. This removes excess oil to further keep the pores from being clogged.

Use Good Skin Protection

After cleansing your skin, you should protect it with a good moisturizer. This keeps your skin soft and smooth while also protecting it from dryness and cracking. You also want to speed up cell production to help reduce the size of your pores, which is done by also protecting your skin from the sun's rays.

If you get a lot of direct sunlight and aren't wearing sunscreen, it could halt the production of new skin cells. Make sure you wear sunscreen any time you plan to leave the house, regardless of how sunny it is. You can also choose a moisturizer that contains sun protection.

Utilize Steam For Facials

You may also want to start using a facial steam to reduce your pores. As long as your pores are clean, the heat from the steam can help minimize them considerably. To do a facial steam at home, fill a bowl with boiling water and herbs like rosemary, lavender, and basil. Cover the bowl with a dish towel for a few minutes, which helps create steam.

Remove the towel and place it on top of your head while you lean your face toward the bowl. The steam will rise up to your skin to further clean out your pores and help reduce them.
